Seeing Sounds: 212

Azealia Banks 1991

It took me awhile to catch on but I am a fan of Azealia Banks. I like her raw and sometimes controversial attitude. She knows what she wants and knows how to get it. There’s nothing wrong with that at all!

I chose to interpret her 212 lyrics. This is the single that caught on in the UK. Not only did it put her on the map but it put her in the position to be the face of T by Alexander Wang and create a limited edition lipstick with MAC.

Listen to the song and see the 212 inspired mood board after the jump!

What you gon’ do when I appear?
W-when-when I premiere?

The lyrics are pretty explicit so I’ll keep the lyrics snippet short. haha.

212 Mood Board This room is raw, sexy and bold, just like Ms. Banks. I wanted the space to be non-apologetic.The best way to communicate the latter is through art. I decided to put together a gallery wall featuring statement making prints. The Carpe That Fu*cking Diem and Wildflower print are my favorites. I also chose the Mystie, Look Up More and the Wildberry prints. They are all in black Ribba frames from IKEA. The Camden Ebony fabric Petrie sofa as well as the Ampersand pillow are from Crate and Barrel. The striped STOCKHOLM RAND rug is from IKEA. The city slicker hot pink side tables are from CB2. I decided to use them as coffee tables. I love the color and shape. I accessorized the tables with a diptyque ‘Rosa Mundi’ scented candle and a metallic skull from Z Gallerie. The side table on the right is accessorized with fashion books.

This has been another successful Seeing Sounds post! What to know what this series is all about? Read about it here.
